What is Modern Pilates?

Modern Pilates is a clinical, functional approach devised by physiotherapists to enable you to learn how to use your body more effectively in everyday activities such as bending, sitting and moving. The Joseph Pilates original exercises have been adapted to provide a foundation level of training. As with Classical Pilates, the aim is to strengthen the deep muscles that stabilise the body, as well as improving fitness and body-awareness. Exercises are slow, controlled and precise, with an emphasis on developing core strength, flexibility, posture, balance and coordination.

What is the Alexander Technique?

The Alexander Technique is a practical approach for self-care, self-awareness and performance improvement. It involves learning to change unhelpful habits of mind and body in a very gentle way without force or effort. You learn how to release unwanted physical tension to restore natural poise, balance, coordination and ease of movement.
