YogaBirth

YogaBirth classes run for two hours, comprising an hour and a half of yoga for pregnancy followed by relaxation. Our classes conclude with tea and biscuits when there is time to share our stories and experiences and to learn about various aspects of pregnancy, labour and birth through informal educational sessions.

You do not have to have any previous experience of yoga to take part in the classes although if you have done yoga before, you will recognise many of the poses that we use which have been adapted to make them safe and effective throughout your pregnancy.

Each week we will practise positions and movements to address your body's changing posture, to aid circulation, improve strength and awareness in your pelvic floor and to generally develop your physical strength, suppleness and muscle tone to enhance your overall health and comfort. Working with gravity, we combine this gentle but very deep bodywork with breathing and relaxation, both of which will be core to the class.

Regular attendance will help you to develop the confidence in your body's innate ability to give birth as what we practise will become second nature as your body prepares for the birth of your baby.  The poses will provide great comfort to you in labour, as well as keeping baby well-oxygenated. These positions and your instinctive ability to work with the breath can make birth easier, faster and uncomplicated.

YogaBirth classes are recommended from 14 weeks of pregnancy through to the birth of your baby.
